I use an older version of FileZilla and NVDA can see the status line but I find the information of no value.  I get information clearly and much more concisely by actually reading the line that provides information such as the time elapsed, remaining time, and the speed of the download.

For many years, the trend has been to eliminate status bars in more programs to leave more room for conten or for other functions in the window.
 
I’m not saying that there are no programs with status bars higher on the screen so NVDA isn’t aware of them but the trend you are talking about means that fewer programs have status lines.

Probably nothing, as I've also searched the proverbial nine ways to Sunday and come up with nothing at https://nvda-addons.org/.

I've tried status, status bar, zexplorer, "rui fontes" and just rui and just fontes in the "Name or summary contains" search edit box.

By the way, please don't split topics by changing the subject line when the reply is still about an ongoing subject.  It makes the archive far messier.  I've merged your "still can't find" message back in with the primary topic.

MathType is "the writing side," and MathPlayer is, "the reading side of what's already been written."   Hence "type" and "player" in the names.

It's worth looking at the MathPlayer page, because they're changing exactly how and where they support math content and what's happening is talked about there.

Thank you for the answer about math, the user guide was most enlightening.

 

However, is writing with Math type supported as well? If so, is it only supported with speech or with speech and braille both?

 

If it is not supported, can anyone recommend me software that would allow editing and writing of mathematical content, if any exists?

I'd also suggest installing NVDA 2021.3beta2.  It's been running fine and is likely to go to Release Candidate (RC) stage soon.

It also fixes "the NVDA and add-on update" issue that keeps being reported, and even were you to decide to roll back afterward, that fix stays because it's a fix to resources used by NVDA, external to NVDA, not the NVDA code itself.

The only thing I like with Ableton Live is that you can transform an audio track to a midi track. Don't know if there's an equivalent plugin/reaper feature

I had that problem until I went in NVDA settings, advance.

Then I told use UIA in edge and other browsers to no.

Not sure who did the code for that one, but it don't work and gets worse with every release.

I haven't be able to use it sense it was put in.

Unfortunately, the add-on wasn't able to capture the error message. However, the windows keystroke did. I wasn't aware of this new addition added to windows. Neat little feature Microsoft and for Quentin for bringing it to my attention.

NVDA uses desktop layout by default on any laptop on which I've installed it and the majority of laptops have been sporting a full-size desktop type keyboard for some time now.

Laptops with classic laptop keyboard layout are the exception, not the rule.

Keyboard layout depends on the keyboard itself, not the thing it's connected to or built into.

One can use laptop layout with a full-size keyboard, but not vice versa.

Look for it on nvda-addons.org. It works well in File Explorer, but I am not using FileZilla, so I don't know if it works in that program.

Rui Fontes developed an handy addon that reads most status lines, but I believe this functionality should form part of the NVDA core. I could find no ticket in GitHub, so I've opened a new feature request, #13084, Add-Ons Manager - When restarting with add-ons disabled, make it possible to selectively re-enable

If you have a GitHub account and think this is a worthwhile change, after having read the feature request, then please comment on it.  Or even if you don't think it's a worthwhile request after having read the feature request.  Community input is one of the things that gets these things looked at and, possibly, implemented.

NVDA not reading any content in internet browsers

Hello everyone,

My NVDA is not reading any content in any of my internet browsers.  I'm using NVDA 19.2 on a Windows 10 machine. I also have a portable coppy of NVDA 21.2 which also has the same issue. It says "unknown" and "content not visible" in the browser window. And, for some reason, NVDA also occasionally announces "chrome legacy window" even when I laucnch a browser other than google chrome.
This is very recent, everything was working fine till a couple of days back. Could someone please help in diagnosing the issue? Any help is much appreciated.
