Check under the document formatting menu in nvda and uncheck the
reporting of spelling errors.

Hi Joseph

My friend Joe Paton recommends you as someone with knowledge of NVDA.

I would like to use NVDA with Cakewalk Sonar7, a midi and multitrack audio
recording programme (I'm a professional musician).

I'm a newcomer to NVDA, but it reads the basic window, the tracks and
their basic configuration, just fine.
When recording, midi, I need access to the event list, which lists
everything I have recorded on a selected track.
The Event List appears in Sonar's view menu, and opens a separte window
containing all that information. In NVDA, this window remains
obstinately silent, and I don't know what to try to change this.

I know this is a long shot, since you may have no experience of this
software, but Joe's suggestions are normally good ones.

Thanks for your attention

Re: Next won't install on xp

Brian's Mail list account

No I hope not, I was merely alerting those who use the next snap that the last few next snaps have an issue where the system gives off loads of errors when nvda is run or installed indeed any way you run the snaps does not work and causes errors. It looks to me from the log output as if the test for xp is not being seen and the system is thus attempting to use UIA on XP which of course does not have it. Its probably a regression caused by the fixes for Edge in windows 10 which also caused that issue in windows 7 search as well.
Its odd as it keeps saying mshtml when its actually oonly seeing the desktop, so my guess is that its trying to find out what it is from uia, but its not there so cannot. This affects mouse position and any other navigation that is required.
Confused?

So wasI
I have added it to the ticket about regression on windows 7, but may need to create a new ticket, but its such an obvious bug somebody else will probably create the ticket before I get time to do it.

This isn't unique to nvda. Apple's voice over has this problem a lot too, so it has to be something related to the documents, because I've never found any pattern on OSX either as to what works, and what doesn't. It may be fixable, but I've never found a solution myself.

Actually, I ran this PDF document through Abbyyy Finereader and the OCR
cured the spacing problem! So, I will have to ask the authors if this
document was originally run through OCR to generate the PDF that was sent to

The OCR caused another problem that is not in the original: There are tables
that contain multiple lines of text within each cell. Abbyyy Finereader put
all of the text lines onto separate rows and this makes it difficult to make
sense of the tables.

Re: a very question about anti spyware programs and very critical issue for me!

It is also sometimes possible to recover files from the shadow file system, but nothing is guaranteed.  Do some web searching on Windows and shadow files to see what you can find.

I once had to recover what I could from a machine infected with ransomware using a sophisticated undelete tool.  The problem with doing that is you get lots of stuff back that you don't want and you have to spend inordinate amounts of time plowing through it to find if what you got back is anything you want.

Most ransomware I'm aware of will sell you the necessary decryption key, and as Gene has already mentioned, that's the whole point.  They don't make any money off the scam if all they do is hose your machine and leave you stranded.  The name "ransomware" came about because of the direct similarity to kidnapping and ransom payment.

NVDA 2016.3, Windows 7 home premium 64 bit with all updates.
NVDA will accept a speech dictionary entry with an empty pattern field.

I recovered by running narrator, loading default.dic into an editor and

Re: a very question about anti spyware programs and very critical issue for me!

Gene

According to what I've read, you often do get a means to decrypt the files if you pay.  It's a scam to extract money whether you get a decryption key for your files or not but the point is that many people do get one.  I'm not saying you will but you often do.  look up the specific ransomeware you are infected with and get information about that specific ransomed wear from reliable sources.  Some ransomeware can be defeated without paying, others can't.  One reason many ransome wear perveyers allow you to decrypt your files is so that others will pay in future.  If it became known that a certain ransomed wear program perveyers didn't allow files to be decrypted, it might be harder to persuade other people to pay in future.

Yes, either by mouse movement, or by pressing NVDA plus B, so as to hear the foreground object being announced, without the possibility of handling it manually, unless you stop it in the middle of reading where you wish it to stop. I would have done it by pressing the numpad 5, so that I could have been able to manage an object on the screen, which sometimes failed, for I would stop it either before or after the desired object. For instance, I did it while fighting with some objects within VLC Media Player. Now that the Objpad add-on was born, this doing is out of the question.

hello every one.
two weeks ago, my computer files were incrypted and now, i lost most
of my valuable files and informations.
i have now many readme files that require me to buy the decrypter
software and my personal product key.

this ransomware is called cerber3.
it changed the name and extensions of my files, to the strange letter
and numbers with cerber3 extention.
could you please guide me which firewall can i use?

i need a free program, accessible with nvda, using less system
resources, without reducing the speed of my system and reading of
nvda, capability of hiding my Ip and informations from hackers, saving
my data from unwanted changes, incryptions etc.

i realy need your help and i am very worried for my data.
i use windows xp, but i want a software that supports all versions of
windows including 32 and 64 bit versions!
thanks extremely for your help and God bless you all.

What I don't quite get is why often you can find one line like this, or many lines it seems totally random on some documents. Could it be the code of the space character used that changes so its not seen as a space in nvda?

Heaven,

Have you any idea how such documents are formatted before they are put into
Adobe? Could I then warn the developers to avoid something that might cause
the spaces to be removed?

All the best,

Hi

I almost always experience this with documents in Adobe Reader. I usually
have to edit my university study material to insert the spaces.

Sheri,

Actually, I ran this PDF document through Abbyyy Finereader and the OCR
cured the spacing problem! So, I will have to ask the authors if this
document was originally run through OCR to generate the PDF that was sent to
me.

The OCR caused another problem that is not in the original: There are tables
that contain multiple lines of text within each cell. Abbyyy Finereader put
all of the text lines onto separate rows and this makes it difficult to make
sense of the tables.

All the best,

For what it's worth, I usually find this when the text in a document has
come through an OCR process.

Hi,

Does anyone know what causes some PDF documents to have words that are not
separated by a space?

For example: "TheCitizensBoard issuesdocumentsabout organisingevents"

This line of text should clearly have a space between the words.

I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader under Windows 10 and NVDA 2016.3.

This is not new and I often find it. Can anyone explain why it happens or at
least what I can do to advise authors on how to avoid sending out these
badly structured documents?

All the best,

Cearbhall
