Good Morning: I had the same experience. However, I mainly was given the keyboard with Jaws and told to press the alt + f for file. Then I was mainly sent on my own to learn by experience. Dave

Host for Podcast on NVDA Global Commands Extension Addon Needed.
David Griffith
Dear List In the past I have produced Podcasts for the talking Computers Website. This has now died and the promised replacement service does not appear to have materialised. I have started recording a series of 7 Podcast demonstrating the use of the NVDA Global Commands Extension Addon. Due to the demise of the Talking Computers service I no longer have a home for PC related Podcasts. Is anybody willing to host or knows of a suitable host for my Podcasts now? Below is a link to a draft episode 1 of the series so people can get an idea of what they will be hosting. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ozvzsf24m9br8bk/01%20Draft%20version.mp3?dl=1

Does having the guess position checkbox checked cause any lag in performance? If so, since one message indicates that in some versions of Outlook the guess check box isn't necessary to be checked, it would be better to just try having the report position checkbox checked and see if that works before checking the guess position check box.

Hi John,
Yes, it works for me. in outlook 2016, nvda tells me I am on item 24 in a list of 89 for example, or nvda will say I am on file 24 in a list fo 48 in
In a list of messages my documents, etc. I did not choose a particular setting or check box to make this happen. Nvda has worked this way for me for many years. Currently I am using nvda 2021.3 with windows 10 21h2.
Some one has your answer.

Jon, from within a folder using Windows Explorer my instance of NVDA 2021.3 is identifying the numeric position you’re asking about, as in “1 of 12.” I am also able to have this information spoken in Outlook 365’s message lists. Which email client are you using? From within NVDA’s Object Presentation settings ensure that “report object position information” is checked. Also try checking the next check box in this dialog, which is announced as “guess object position when unavailable” which enables this feature to work from within Outlook.

Re: NVAccess Confirms: NVDA is NOT vulnerable to Log4j
Devin Prater
NVDA is written in Python and C, with hooks, I assume written in Python or C, into the Java Access Bridge. Doesn't it come with the Java Access Bridge nowadays?

NVAccess Confirms: NVDA is NOT vulnerable to Log4j

Hi. So after a rather long fight, we got NVDA available for use at work. This morning I got a question from the security folks about this one. Log4Shell: How to detect the Log4j vulnerability in your applications | InfoWorld
I am fairly certain that NVDA is not impacted being written in python and not Java but it would be good to confirm if anyone knows for sure.

sequencing in a list

eIs there a way to have sequencing iin lists using NVDA?
For example, in a long list of items in a folder or in a list of email messages in an email client, I would like to know where I am in the list: e.g. 23 of 100.

Re: new addon: NVDA Advanced OCR.
There’s a solution to that. Have a dialogue pop up that says, nvda will restart as x add ons are disabled. Ok, cancel. I personally would not use that feature but it would be nice if someone of us could do this.

I doubt it will ever be. When you disable an add-on, you must restart NVDA for the command to take effect. While I would think that could be done when working with profiles, I doubt the developers would want to have NVDA automatically close and restart when a certain profile runs or stops running.

Can you set up a config profile that disables this add on in gw? This would be a fix if you can actually do this.

Hi all, I’ve found another problem in the addon, this addon also conflict with the gold wave addon, pressing NVDA plus shift plus r announces remaining time for the currently editing track in gold wave, so if the nao addon is installed, this command is unuseable in gold wave. Hopefully, this will be fixed in the next version!
