Re: Code Factory Vocalizer and Eloquence addon
Sam Bushman
Hi Abbie,
You are a life saver!
I upgraded as you did and got that horrible change where cap was spelled out. I had to move to pitch changes for a while because I couldn’t stand it.
I just tried your suggestions and the world is right again – hahaha!
>"Use spelling functionality when supported."
Do you know what that means and is there any other repercussions from that change?
Thank you so much,

Hi, Don. I had a reverse issue of sorts. I wanted the vocalizer and Eloquence voices to say "cap" before a capital letter. But after installing the latest update to the software a while back, it would spell the word "cap" instead of saying it, which was annoying, to say the least.

Re: Code Factory Vocalizer and Eloquence addon

I don't have "Use spelling functionality when supported." checked. What I want is to only hear a raise in pitch on capital letters. Again I don't have beep on caps checked or say caps on capitals checked. But with all those settings I still hear the word capital before each capital typed or when reviewing test.

So, I tried unchecking the box that said, "Use spelling functionality when supported." Lo and behold, the voices said "capital" instead of spelling the word. So, in your case, try checking that box, if it isn't checked, and see if that doesn't solve your problem.

That would be helpful. I sensed that my instructors did not receive a lot of training/guidance about making their courses accessible. K.

I was told that blackboard now has a scoring system where if the score is higher the more accessible the content is.

I was not impressed by Canvas -- it appeared to me that a lot of it was not
accessible. The calendar was not discoverable, etc. My instructors also did not make a lot of effort to upload information into Canvas in an accessible manner...Kate

Podcast app that works with Windows 10 or 11
Lisa P Geibel
Hi,
My Husband, Marcus and I have been getting our Podcasts from the Victor Stream and are running into issues with them not coming in anymore. Web sites have shown that they have aired, but we're just not getting them. Are there any Podcast apps that work with Windows 10 or 11 and are not tied to Apple? We use the latest version of NVDA, but can also use the latest version of JAWS if accessibility is an issue with the program. -- Lisa P. Geibel email: lisapgeibel429@... Re: Ms Russian Voices and NVDA
Tony Malykh
I wrote an add-on exactly for this case:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
https://github.com/mltony/nvda-tonys-enhancements One of its functions is language map, which by default includes English and Russian IIRC. So it will force your synthesizer to switch languages whenever it sees text writte in Latin/Cyrillic. In theory it should work with any synth, but some synthesizers, or rather their NVDA drivers don't support some functionality. I can confirm that it works well in Microsoft Speech API, Windows OneCore Voices and espeak. Used to work with RHVoice a couple of years ago but I haven't tested since then. And yeah, I tested specifically on Russian/English pair. HTH --Tony

In my view, keeping in mind that I truly loathe e-speak in English, I did listen to it a long time ago in Russian and concluded that it was truly awful. The expressive vocalizer voice should do the job, as it is the same one that is on the iPhone, where it does not render English unintelligible, if you're willing to live with Russian accented English. I'm now trying to figure out if the sapi5 offers the same as the nvda add on. This is probably getting off topic and maybe needs to go to chat.

Well I wander how the code factory voices stack. Sadly this is the only voice pack in sapi which is well rellitively priced instead of indeviduals. Now I know maxiaids is previding the original neospeech voices before they became readspeaker but who knows if I will get those later on. The sereproc stuff looked nice but its still a lot for those. One thing with russian voices, would nuphon or rh voice handle that. What is standard espeak ng like in this instance.

Question about using NVDA with Duxbury products.
Afnan Nasir <afnan.nasir2000@...>
Hello, i hope that all are doing geat, well i've installed DBT (Duxbury Translator) to write braille, but unfortunately, NVDA is not providing spoken feedback while writing. i've also tried perkey duck by same author (Duxbury ) but results are same. can anyone guide me about the solution of it? i've tried it with jaws, and it is working fine, but i primarily use NVDA as a main screen reader, so i want to use it with NVDA. any help would be much appreciated.
