Hi Luke I don't ever recall a time that Microsoft remote desktop was not accessible Microsoft remote desktop has always supported the audio coming through from the remote therefore making screen readers usable on the remote computer I also used to be able to do nvda updates on the remote computer using it this way but that is no longer possible Thank you Jacob when I get a chance I'll try that out maybe if I'm not running in vda on the remote computer I can do the upgrade :-) Russ

Regarding Vocalizer-Expressive Samantha, she is still working and your license still valid. Vocalizer-Expressive is, right now, compatible with NVDA 2021.3.4. Compatibility with NVDA 2022.1 is ready to be distributed.

I used NVDA as my primary screen reader for several years. In 2019, I switched back to JAWS for a while and made NVDA secondary. I am now switching back to NVDA. What do I need to know about, good or bad, that's changed in the last 2.5 years? In addition, what voices do you recommend at this point? I was using the Samantha Vocalizer add on back then, but as I recall there were problems with it and it hadn't been updated. I liked it because it meant that all of my devices were using the same voice. Anyway, thanks for your time.

I found, a few times in the passed three or four weeks that, after I turned on my computer, that NVDA does not start automatically, even though I always has it set to do so. Could anyone maybe give met an indication as to what my be the problem?

I haven't tried that method but this may be a bug where NVDA
sometimes doesn't follow a link when you are on the first letter.
If you right arrow once, then press enter again, the link may work.
Off and on, I do that when I move to a link and it does nothing.

An important note for those using languages other than English. The "What's New" text for NVDA 2021.3.4 is currently only available in English. You can find it on the release announcement: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2021-3-4/. When opened from the help menu using other languages, only changes up to 2021.3 are shown. All of the changes and fixes ARE still there, and no other changes affected translations. Please do use NVDA 2021.3.4 in your chosen language. The translations will catch up shortly when we move into the beta period for NVDA 2022.1. Could I please ask those in non-English groups with NVDA users to please pass this on? I tried to press enter on the link that was provided in another persons message but nothing happened, is there some thing that i need to do in order to download the most recent ad-onupdater. Christopher, when I use the disconnect sub-menu item under windows 10's power user menu - windows key + X, it never has any issues with disconnecting connection - only real issue have had as such is need to make sure remember to turn off any audio-ducking modes on client machine, before connect to remote machine, or else it might, at times, come across a bit soft?
And, this is all under windows 10 x64, on both ends of

I use RDP on a relatively regular basis, but, can't remember last time I specifically tried to do an NVDA upgrade while it was being made use of.
But, partly since have narrator set to auto-start in all
environments as well, just in case, can't see where this would be
a problem if was specifically using Microsoft RDP, and, not NVDA

David, NVDA 2021.3.4 is the latest version of NVDA, it only came out yesterday. The problem is many synthesizers, and OneCore does it now too, try to interpret it as a date. It is supposed to be read as "Twenty-Twenty One point three, point four" - it is the fourth minor point release of the third major version of 2021. We might have to look at doing something different with the version numbering. And yes, now we've got that patch release out the way, we're about to release 2022.1 Beta 1, so keep an eye out for that in the next few days. Quentin.
