Adobe DC reader, or brave, or edge, or google chrome, all of which work and render differently so pick your poison. You didn't specify your problem, please do so.

I don't use Adobe and I have seldom done so in the past.  I would think you should be able to tab to move through links in browse mode.  If the command is the same in NVDA localized for your language, there is another move by links command, which is the letter k.

As far as find is concerned, you use the same command in browse mode as on a web page.  Any time you are in browse mode, commands are the same as on web pages if they are browse mode commands..

Use control o when in Edge to open the open file dialog and treat as you would any standard open dialog.

Re: Reading and editing footers in Word with NVDA

Sandra Pilz

Hi Quentin, Luke, and Sarah,

Thank you for your replies.

I’m using NVDA Version 2021.3.4 and Word (Version 2204 Build 16.0.15128.20158).

I have tried editing footers again and am able to do it as long as the footer I’m trying to edit doesn’t contain a table. When I wrote my first Email, I had tried editing a footer including a table and didn’t think of removing the table to see if the table caused my problem.

I can edit the footer including the table when UIA use in Word isn’t selected, I can’t when it is selected.

Kind regards

Sandra

Office 365 (64-bit) Version: 16.0.15128.20140

And using either NVDA 2021.3.5, or NVDA 2022.1Beta4, everything works as expected with UIA enabled (2021.3.5) or set to "Always"  (2022.1beta4).

I can add or edit footers and read the text.

Which build of Office and version of NVDA are you using?

Kind regards

What version of NVDA do you have?

You said that the difference occurs when you turn UIA on or off. However, in the most recent versions of NVDA, there is an intermediate setting, which allows NVDA to use UIA only when necessary, and fallback to IAccessible otherwise.
That sounds like the setting you need here.

Re: Punctuation

Chris Mullins

Hi

Part 1 - OK, using the Punctuation/Symbol Pronunciation dialog, set the levels to”All” for both instances of exclaim and apostrophe. There are 2 entries in the dialog for each of these so there are 4 entries to change.  This completes Part1 of the process.

Part 2 - Once you have done the above, you need to set the Symbol level you want to hear.  If you press NVDA+p repeatedly, you will hear NVDA cycle around the available options which are, In order, None, Some, Most and All.  Stop pressing NVDA+p when you hear the level you want to set.

The Symbol level setting chosen determines which Punctuation/Symbol characters are announced as you readusing Say all, Say Line and Say word commands as it will only announce punctuation/Symbol characters which have a level equal to or lower, set in the Punctuation/Symbol Pronunciation dialog discussed in Part 1.  Note that reading by character will always read the character, irrespective of the level set for it.  This completes Part 2 of the process.

Examples:

Set Symbol level (Part 2) to “Some” and it will only announce Punctuation/Symbols with levels of “None” and “Some” as set in Part 1.

Set Symbol level (Part 2) to “All” and it will only announce Punctuation/Symbols with levels of “None”, “Some”, Most”  and ”All” as set in Part 1.

Cheers

Well, it is google. What's yours is theirs, and all that.

I do have a google drive account, but I have always found it fiddly, and I would never give them anything important. So it didn't even occur to me to recommend them.

perkins style keyboard input on computer

Michael Micallef at FITA

Dear NVDA Listers,

I tried to use the perky duck v12.5 with nvda but it seems that it is incompatible with nvda because when I write something nvda doesn’t read back what wrote.

Can someone suggest me an alternative for the perkyduck does the free brailleblaster have this facility of perkins style input?

I need the above info as soon as possible.

Thank you

İ'm not sure if you have a google account, but I would just use google
drive. Upload it and then share the link. Not sure why no one else
recommended it, does it have a flaw that İ'm not aware of?

It is good for 1 year.

I know the subject is not dropbox, but I will make 1 comment.

I current.y have a free 100gig dropbox account which I got by buying a new
hp pc last fall.

If I share files that are 1 or 2 hundred megabytes, no problem, but if I
start sharing files of 3 or 4 gig to several people, that free account is
usually frozen in less than a day and stays frozen for a day or 2.

That's a free account I'

M talking about.

Drop box works for me with NVDA, Jaws, Narrirator, Voice over on Mac, Voice
over on IOS, and Talkback. I am not sure the trouble your having but it is
still one of the best secure methods.

Good morning all,

I hope you are keeping well and avoiding Covid!

I need to share a large zip file of 150mb with a colleague on a regular
basis. Can you suggest a file transfer system that is accessible and could
carry such a large file?

I used to use Dropbox but that does not seem to work any more.

All suggestions welcome.

All the best,

Cearbhall
