Re: help with the volume mixer on windows 10

I ponder if they're trying to change the device the app's audio is going through?
They CanNot Do That From The Volume Applit.
You Must Go to:
Settings (fastest way is Windows+I)
highlight and Space/Enter on these categories:
System
Sound
tab/shift+tab to the App Volume and Advanced Preferences link and activate it.
(Shift+Tab will be faster because this link is towards the end of the page, not the beginning).
Once here, a list of all apps that are playing/or recently played audio appear.
Tab a few times to that list,
arrow down to the offender you'd like to change,
tap Space/Enter to open its section,
tab over to the Output Device droplist and choose the new destination you'd like to use.
Just Alt+F4 when done here.

Have you submitted a suggestion on Firefox's bug tracker? I hear they are ok with fixing issues like this.  I hardly use FF now a days. Have it just in case though.

Good luck.

Yes I do feel that Firefox needs to work on the accessibility of this section, as its not intuitive at all and its so easy to accidentally input something you do not really want to.

You almost need a kind of toolbar for this, or better still a proper menu for these options. Brian

Change via the split button. There is a tool bar you can interact with. That will change  the whole system.  You can also do this via the game bar’s sound panel, and via sound mixer

Butg when I type sndvol yes I can change the volumes of individual apps but I can’t change the soundcard. There is a button that used to work next to the volume of each app that you used to be able to hit spacebar on and you could change the sound in there but for some reason it’s not coming up. If I press enter on it then it just shuts the app.

Hi all, do anyone knows about the above add-on, what does it do, and does it complement the existing add-on "Whatsapp desktop" by the same author?

This is what I can gather from the "help" and I translate it from Spanish in Google as follows:

Plugin that renames unlabeled buttons, adds keyboard shortcuts for main application functions, and focus functions for better interaction with the interface.

It will be very good if someone can provide the hotkeys too. Thanks.

The answer to that question, regardless of screen reader, is, "Yes, but it is not as reliably accessible as Microsoft Office."

The folks at LibreOffice seem to be serious about improving accessibility where it's lacking, and there has been a recent flurry of messages on their accessibility mailing list from developers.

I've never seen such buttons in the Windows volume control, that which is accessed by sndvol.

However, this page tells you how to do this in Windows 10.
https://www.alphr.com/change-audio-output-different-programs/

If you want to see other instructions or if any pages give different ways, doing a Google search for changing sound card for specific application will bring up results.

The instances I've had to use object navigation are few and far
between. I have, however, run into three new instances in the last
month, where focus mode needs to be forced on in order to properly
interact with elements. The only time I've had to use object
navigation in the last month was the auto complete form for the
student clearing house which I posted last week. I've tried it in a
couple other settings with not much success, but now that I know a
little more about it, I'll have to try it again in one of those. I've
also run into a situation where using the touchscreen on my computer
like you would on a phone has helped, I'm not sure if object
navigation would replace that functionality or not, that's what I need
to test.

If  you type sndvol in the run dialog or in the Windows start menu and press enter, the volume control will open.  You don't have to decide which utility to use, you will be in the correct one and you can tab through the controls for the available applications.

Hi all,

For some weird reason I’m having issues with the volume mixer on windows 10.

Am trying to change the soundcard for 1 particular application and I just can’t seem to do it. I do have win 10 app essential’s installed and enabled.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks.

Re: help with firefox and NVDA

I just found out that you don't have to use object navigation to see the UBlock Origin button.  Firefox is properly accessible so if you are on the address bar and tab to save to pocket, you can right arrow through buttons until you get to the UBlock Origin button, which you can navigate with the space bar.

Still, many people may benefit by knowing at least a little about object navigation.

I'll give those following this thread an example of the value of object navigation.

I use UBlock Origin )(spelling) to block ads.  If you move by object in the address bar in Firefox, you will find a UBlock Origin button.  If you activate it, UBlock Origin will open a dialog with settings for the specific site you are on.  You don't see these options when you are working with the general add-on settings in the add-ons section of the program.

It may be that a lot of people, perhaps most, won't be interested in these options but this is an example of how, in some programs, you can't do certain things without object navigation and in some programs it is necessary to use it to use the program to a meaningful extent.

As I said, depending on how people use a computer, they may not need or want to use object navigation but I am pointing out its usefulness and importance because I suspect a lot of people don't know the potential of using it.

I just checked.  In the Brave and probably other Chrome-based browsers, what I said will work.  In Firefox, you first have to issue the command numpad insert numpad 8 to move up one level and you can then move as i described.  Since I don't know how you use a computer, it may be that you will seldom need to use object navigation, but I'm saying that what I described does work with one extra command in Firefox.

As I said, there are programs where it is necessary to use object navigation and I want those following the thread not tobe left with the impression that object navigation doesn't work in this instance.

I hope you will try what I suggested so that if such an occasion arises, you may be able to do what you want without delay and perhaps significant inconvenience.

Hello folks,

I am trying to use the whatsapp web using the latest version of firefox on a laptop running windows 10, last update. NVDA is my only screen reader. I am using NVDA 2021.3.

When I try to send a voice message on whatsapp web using fire fox, I get this message:

"Allow microphone
To record Voice Messages, WhatsApp needs access to your computer’s microphone. Click  in the URL bar and set “Use the Microphone” to “Allow.”
OK, GOT IT"

When I hit f6 to go to the URL bar I only find the whatsapp web address, but no buttons to adjust the setttings for my microphone there. What is the NVDA command to reach to this area when I get such a message on firefox?

I hope those who use firefox and NVDA can help me with this one.
