It's up, Brian. There are just things that the portable version can't
do that make using it pretty difficult for the average user, ie, they
can't sign into the login screen, they cant interact w/uac,

Aaron, this sounds like NVDA is being run as a program
w/administrative privileges, which, of course, it shouldn't.
So let me ask you--did NVDA actually install to the desktop or no?

I believe someone suggested creating a short cut command to run NVDA. I'm not sure what is causing the problem. It may be a minor corruption in the registry, where the setting is stored.

Are you sure she is not unchecking the box? You did uncheck it, apply, ok, then go back into settings, check the box, apply, ok, reboot?

Yes, it is checked and I pressed nvda+ctrl+c after checking the box on Monday. yet Tuesday the box was unchecked again.

You meant to say NVDA control c to manually save settings you have changed instead of having them be saved on exit.
NVDA control R undoes any changes you have made that haven't been saved.
