I'm with Gene on this one. Dark mode versus light mode has no meaning for a screen reader user. It's a choice for sighted users that means, essentially, dark background with light text versus light

Its also worth stating, which I didn't before, that the reason you aren't at the top of the page when you open GMail is because JAVA script moves you you to where GMail thinks you would most likely
