Well I had a few drives that failed all at once.
I was able to recover all the file names but not the contents.
While the majority of files could be transfered, as well as some stuff locally stored,

I still use them because they are so simple and text based. There are still some active ones and you can always filter spam. The one I'm using is still Outlook Express. Maybe not ideal , but good

Well I've not seen anything other than Thunderbird, but there are some that run under Linux.

Yes all recover is doing is changing bits in the file allocation table. You probably cannot make the folder the same as s before due to the way ntfs tends to work. However you can do exactly what

Each of the snaps has its own update, ie you will not be able to go back to the normal version automatically you will have to download it and install it over the master or next branch manually.
