Are you saying you don't hear anything but link on all links? I don't know what setting may cause the behavior you are describing if that is what you mean. But links often are essential parts of

yes.
i deactivated javascript and only activate it when its necessary.
for example: when i cant write comment without it or sometimes in gmail.
for usual cases, i deactivate it.

Do you mean things like image links where there is nothing but underlying code? I don't think there is any way to control what NVDA says in such cases. There are links I hear as the word link and

if you want to read normal pdf files not scanned pdf and dont need
ocr, i prefer firefox.
i used it and it worked for me.
its a little difficult to explane how to use in english.

i speak persian.
but i tested arabic and japanese in espeak ng and confirm your message.
also, when i tested japanese language, nvda only told japanese and
chinese letter.

You might be able to set it permanently. It would still boot from the hard drive in the absence of a bootable CD.

I have used it on 7 to restore once, and I have backed up on 10, but it is old and its primary download server just doesn't work.

You may have to select your boot device in the BIOS during the boot process to give preference to the CD drive. Doing so probably isn’t accessible.
