Re: getting messages to automatically read in outlook when using NVDA
I meant what I said, that I read mail as plain text because it is safer. I don't know if reading mail as html exposes the user to much risk but plain text is safer.

Gene,
Did you mean to write “I read mail in HTML as it is the safe way to read mail?”
Thanks

Re: [NVDA stopping Outlook 2016
I didn't say anything about Outlook Express. I wanted to be clear about how important having multiple folders opened simultaneously is because niether Thunderbird nor Windows Live Mail allows this.

Upgrade Assistant is not on your desktop. You go to the Windows 10 Download Page, and activate the Update Now button to trigger the Update Assistant as I mentioned earlier.

Are you reading mail as plain text or as HTML? NVDA has a feature called automatic read on page load. It is in the browse mode settings. But it is checked by default. I don't read mail as HTML

Aha :)
I now understand the distinction, but I'll have to defer to someone else here
who uses Outlook who may be able to answer your question - I don't use
Outlook, so I'm sorry but I can't tell

I agree. Since your version is not very old, I would personally stick with
it until it no longer works for you. When I made the switch, it was from
2002. I was having issues that all seemed to go back
