What sort of spec does the machine have. Delays tend to be due to two things for me. One is slow or badly set up hardware, or secondly a laptop throttling the speed back and not going to fast speed

Maybe it is using the same dll to hook into the system and when its inactive it does not remove its hooks and nvda thus cannot cope??
Its really a question for somebody who knows the low level stuff

Adobe Reader will tag the document automatically. When you start the programm first time, it will recognize that you are using assistive technology. You will then have to configure the Auto tagging

Navigating through a list of messages should be quicker if you turn off the Reading Pane. Sorry I can’t tell you exactly how to do that as I haven’t used that version of Outlook
