I agree. I always go to help, or the name of the app then check for updates. I don't really see the cause of crying about this.

As most programs put it in help, it's become personally intuitive for me to check there first. I've also seen a very few programs put it in the file menu.

It's standard for many programs, and is certainly the first place I check when wanting to see if there are updates. For me, very intuitive.
