Lee, Like I said, thee last 3 or 4 essential updates, I'm notified, of the update, and follow go promps and receive some kind of message stating the update failed. No other issues with add ons.

I've never had it force an update on windows 7. it always asks to which I say politely no thanks.
I'm not sure how one gets the old version.

Trying to update the add-on from W10 app essentials update notification usually fails for me too. I can't remember the last time it actually worked but as you say, using the check for ADD-ON update

Can VLC show lyrics stored in MP3 files?
Windows Media Player does it, but you have to configure it and arriving at the area of the player where the lyrics are placed is somewhat

I think it depends on how you think of it.
IE there are always two ways.
if it says plus it could mean you have expanded it or it could mean it can be expanded.

As an addendum I went to NVDA and preferences and then Windows 10 App Essensials at the bottom of the preferences menu and I was then able to apply the Addon update manually

I had the exact same problem.
NVDA Notified me that there was an Essentials Addon update available. When I tried to apply the update I got an error which said that the Windows Essentials update

Both of those have their own settings, both under preferences I think.
If you go in there and check for updates, they should work. It did for
Windows App Essentials anyway. I don't know why the
