Re: Choosing a Laptop
That would be the easiest way if you want to use the touchpad as quickly and easily as possible. The hinge is a good idea. Most of the time, you can disable the touchpad. I don't know how it may

Great minds think alike, gene. <smile>
I cut a piece of cardboard the size of the touchpad on my HP 8440P and used a piece of adhesive tape from one end of the cardboard to the surface of the laptop.

Re: NVDA and dollars and cents
I put the following list in Notepad.
$577.30
$250.19
$21.67
$5.99
With Microsoft 1-core voices, specifically Microsoft Mark, this reads
just fine arrowing through it, and nothing gets cut off.

NVDA and dollars and cents
Running NVDA 2018-1 on a Win 10 64 bit system. NVDA seems to be inconsistent when it comes to reading numbers that start with the dollar sign. An example would be reading down a list of such

Do you have perhaps different sizes set for the fonts or different display settings?

Ah you are experiencing the joys of windows 10.
I on the other hand using windows 7 only notice one oddity. When in some save dialogues, I type in a file name and often, but not always, I hear 'a'
