Are they not based on the same system? Might be worth putting up with one of the many Espeak voices long enough to see if the same problems happen there or not.

What I do to download something is to save it to my downloads folder. Then I install it from there. You could do that with the latest version of NVDA.

Since you're running Windows 10, Jim, the default synth is 1 core now.

They are not confusing at all actually. They remind me of several standard dialogues I’ve ben dealign wiht for years and most mac menu structures and settings. It’s quite easy actually, at least

And I would suggest making sure that you're running NVDA 2018.2 before writing a review, since there is now a new Preferences dialog that replaces the old Preferences menu.
