Run python, not idle. Use whatever text editor you like for programming,
the only thing you really need to know that's different is indentation
level. As far as I know idle isn't accessible. Be nice

If you press NVDA+numpad delete, or if using laptop layout, NVDA+delete, NVDA will report the distance from the left and top edges of the page in whatever measurement unit you have Word set

When using Word how can I learn where the cursor is in the document? That would be the distance from top of page, distance from left margin, and page number.

Say in the case of a desk top computer which i use you use your modifier key and the numeric keypad.
Make sure your num lock key is off.
you will need to put your self into that mode first
