Frankly, it shouldn't be available in the portable copy.

Strange indeed. I've lost it twice that I know of, and the author of the WindowsCentral article I posted earlier mentioned it as well.

Quite agreed. And the first thing MS does on a windows update, is turn it back on. Be warned.
On my HDD equipped laptop, turning it off approximately doubles boot time, to about two minutes.

For future reference: if the regular review commands aren't doing it for you for some reason, maybe try the speech history add-on. Shift-F11 with that add-on, will always read the last thing

You've got NVDA in laptop keyboard layout, so the keys are a little different to desktop layout (NVDA+up arrow only works in desktop layout to read the current line) - similarly NVDA+A is now say all

The reason it does this is because the screen reader isn't giving the synth enough information to figure out what you meant.

Good question Brian, it was only the 1/2 cup not the 2 cups. I just tried writing:
1/2 cup
1 cup
2 cup
2 cups
1/2 cups
the cups
the cup
and Zira and David only read the first line and the 2 cup line
