Re: planning on writing a guide on browsing the web efficiently with NVDA
Hi Kara
I think it is a fabulous idea.
I’ll definitely use such a manual.

It is supposed to do that. it is a toggle that switches between the two modes, that is, browse mode on and browse mode off. You can't turn it off. Maybe you can reassign the command to different

Re: Issue switching between browse & focus mode with NVDA+Spacebar
Hi Danni,
As mentioned, that's the expected behaviour - it forces NVDA to change modes even when it doesn't want to automatically (on the web it also keeps NVDA in the new mode even if you do

Re: re-appearance of an issue with Speech Viewer?
I opened an issue for this. No resolution yet, although I did investigate that it doesn't happen with braille viewer etc: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/10791--

Re: Number Pad
Sorry didn't see this message when I replied just now as it wasn't a reply to the original one.
Numlock isn't part of NVDA's review modes - it's just a function of your keyboard to let your number pad

Hi Howard,
We do have an issue to investigate this layout (users with keypads but not navigation keys would like to have the number pad object navigation / review cursor commands work only in desktop

Re: Numpad Issue With NVDA And Thunderbird
I wasn't sure what commands you were discussing before. Now, I'll comment on them:
You shouldn't have turned off
insert +keyboard 6 carrot moves review cursor toggle on/off,
and insert + keyboard

Re: Transfering configuration profile settings from a portable copy to an installed copy?
There's an install NVDA option in the tools menu. You can use that, or if you already have it installed, just copy the contents of portable directory\userconfig to %appdata%\nvda.

Hi Gene,
In one of the previous messages I sent, I postulated that I might have changed some settings that caused the issue in the first place. You can make quick changes to Let's see,

Re: Changing speech rate not working
No problem.
Assuming you're using OneCore or eSpeak, You need to turn on rate boost. Use ctrl+nvda+shift+left and right arrows until you find it, then use CTRL+nvda+shift+up and down to toggle it

Re: Changing speech rate not working
That worked! Thank you.
I just started using NVDA, used to use JAWS. It doesn’t sound like NVDA speaks as fast as JAWS even at 100 percent. Or is that just my imagination?

Re: Numpad Issue With NVDA And Thunderbird
I can't tell what you are describing. You can use either insert, the numpad insert or the other insert but you must use the keys on the numpad for hearing what we are discussing.
