My borther printer is a standalone laser printer.
I use a canon flatbed scanner to scan in my documents.
I use either adobe acrobat or kerzweil 1000.
There is an inexpensive program

The window never goes away. If the file is small or if it is large, the Windows stays there until you alt + tab away and back. Sighted people do not see this on the screen

I doubt it will help, but it won't hurt.

Yes. You have to put one of them in server mode, you have to know its IP address, and you have to make sure the port is open in the computer's firewall.

By the way, whatever this is would not be NVDA related, but tied to Windows 10, whether some setting I'm unfamiliar with or a subtle corruption that's causing misbehavior.
