I don't use either of those, but I do use the zulu dj software.
For basic stuff it is accessible, but the buttons are not labeled and you
cant speed up and slow down pitch with keyboard.

Have you checked if ScrollLock is activated? If it is, deactivate it.

You are using a way-out-of-support version of NVDA in 2019.2, so please update to either 2020.3, or even better 2020.4RC1, to see if the issue still occurs.

No agreed, Narrator is not the crappy screen reader it used to be it really is not but i just need to be a bit more disciplined and put some time off to play with it.
