Mark,
I posted this here under the assumption that what you said about the authors of eSpeak is correct. However, I wanted to know exactly what NVDA does to eSpeak before packaging it with a release,

[Solved] Problem with Bluetooth clipping words
This has been happening for some time and I cannot remember when it started but hope someone can help if I can explain it clear enough.
There are times when I read line by line with the arrow keys

Re: NVDA announcing "Unknown"
Hi, Anthony,
Do you know how to runthe com registration tool? I’ve had to do that whenever I heard “unknown”. You’ll find the com registration tool in the NVDA menu under “tools”.

NVDA announcing "Unknown"
Hi
Can somebody explain to me that everytime when the NVDA screen reader is loaded, it keeps announcing the word unknown. Even when I use firefox.
Thanks in advance

Re: Correcting speech pattern
Patrick is absolutely correct that this is a function of the synthesizer(s) in use rather than NVDA itself. When faced with an unpronounceable sequence like FL10 (F L 1 0) it's got to "take a guess"

Hi,
Unfortunately, it is not a feature of nvda but one specific to the engine/voice, thus there is no simple way to avoid that kind of things altogether.
It should be possible to use the dictionary

Correcting speech pattern
Hi,
How can I stop NVDA from saying names of American states instead of letter combinations such as “Florid” for fl10, or “Nevada” for “NV-Access”?
All the best,
