Re: Code factory Eloquence
Although not a huge Apple fan, I must give them credit for coming up with their Alex TTS voice. It sounds natural slow, and I love it going really fast. I'm not sure how they manage it to be

And therein lies the problem as far as conflicts of interest in synthesized speech. I've been around blind individuals, and you're clearly one of them, who can listen and comprehend at speech rates

I’d first try unloading and running NVDA again and then rebooting. I’d then move on to your recommendation.
I’ve seen NVDA cause strange behaviors and JAWS too, which are generally corrected

Re: Code factory Eloquence
That may explain why you don’t like Eloquence. You listen close to the standard speech rate.
Also, Eloquence sounds better at faster rates. the voice sounds more annoying at slower rates.

About a week ago, Via Voice was discussed here as being available from an IBM web site. I don’t recall the details. There may be an NVDA add-on. I’m not sure if the IBM web site version is

Nothing has changed in regard to the emoji picker in recent updates to Windows. This is likely either a Windows irregularity or NVDA irregularity on your machine.

Gene,
As I said earlier, more than 200 words per minute and I want to slow it down, I’ve tried many voices with several synthysiers over the years and about 170 words per minute is my comfort

Hi Chris,
There was a p s at the end of my message saying that I am using Zara, a 1core voice.
No, I just don’t like highspeed t t s or screenreaders.
I just can’t stand the speed.

Re: Code factory Eloquence
I should add that the legal version is actually superior. It pauses properly at the ends of sentences where periods are encountered and the voice has more high end which I consider more pleasant.

I don’t know if any of the newer kind of synthesizers don’t have these faults. I can’t comment on the default voices in Windows 10. I’ve heard some of the newer kinds of synthesizers and

Re: Code factory Eloquence
nope, in fact, some say the alternative version that costs nothing is better.
If you aren't using Eloquence with NVDA, can I ask which voice you prefer? I"m always looking for

When it comes to voices, I have come to the conclusion that, Chacun à son goût [Everyone has their own taste], rules the day.
The amount of passion that surrounds what is, or is not, a good voice

I think eloquence is the default voice for Jaws. As far as voices, I like the Zera voice too.

If so, I fail to see why people are willing to pay for a product that is such a pain.
What is the attraction?

How you get around that depends on the screen-reader being used. I haven’t used JAWS enough in years to describe how you would get around the problem.
In NVDA, if you issue the command control

I'm all for doing things legally but that sort of thing only drives more people to use the alternative Eloquence.
