I very seldom have used NVDA to invoke Windows 10 OCR, particularly for a PDF file open in Adobe.
I prefer to use a third party OCR option. See: Free & Good OCR Software for Image Scanned PDFs

I have just noticed a setting within nvda.
Go to settings,
Cursor down to braille,
Tab to change braille display.
Tab to no braille.
Then tab to apply then ok.
This will turn off

Ah,
No, set the orbit output table in nvda to us English eight dot braille.
As I mentioned this is grade 0 braille.
I don’t think there is a way of completely turning off translation in nvda so
