Generally the "media keys" function of the function keys must be turned off in UEFI/BIOS. But, there are brands like Lenovo that have a utility where it can be done under Windows.

You will have to go into the bios to revert the function keys to their normal function
In the meantime you have to hold down the FN key whilst pressing the function key along with any other key

I am guessing you have number lock turned on. Try turning that off.

The answer is object navigation.
If you use the number pad to read by object, you can get the info in smaller chunks. So NVDA and the number keys are your friend. Use numbers 1 and 9 on the number

There is an add-on called Virtual Review, written by Rui Batista, which you can use to grab the information from the About dialog and put it in a window that you can navigate with the arrow
