You probably have automatic language switching turn on
Go into nvda speech settings and uncheck automatic language switching

Re: reloading nvda
If you press NVDA+Q and NVDA exits immediately then you've likely disabled it.
If you want to change whether that dialog is shown or not:
1. Press NVDA+control+g to open NVDA's general settings.
2.

Re: reloading nvda
control+alt+n is the quickest way (or simply "starting" it any other way, eg from the start menu).
You can also press NVDA+Q as if you were about to quit NVDA, and on the exit dialog, press down arrow

Yeah I removed mine. I don’t need that shortcut. So I just quickly restart nvda like I have done for I am not sure how long now.

Glad to hear that White Noise worked for you Sean. I just stumbled on that one by accident, and it has worked perfectly for me each and every time.

I also thought the shortcut is ctrl + alt + n. I answered in an exam. Although the examiner didn't provide correct answer, his attitude was like my answer was incorrect.

I have a music track of more than 2 hours duration, I play it in vlc
media player and put its volume at lowest level. I can peacefully work

Re: reloading nvda
If you have no shortcut such as I, you can type nvda in the run dialogue and it will restart. I’m sure you can also create a batch file as well to accomplish this.

Hi
Use the default Control+alt+n or whatever shortcut you have assigned to the NVDA icon on your desktop.
Cheers

I had not known about white noise, I had Bluetooth Audio. I installed white noise and it took about 30 seconds to kick in once I switched to my Bluetooth headset, but it seems to be consistent
