We don't need all those addons there. All we need is our personal voice prefference such as synth of choice, speed etc.

The easiest thing is to determine how long the period is before lock: Settings, Personalization, Lock Screen, Screen timeout settings link.
It is possible to set the lock to Never, but it's clearly

My work laptop is running windows 10 and I am using nvda 2021.3. I am using
office 365 on that machine.
The laptop is set to automatically lock if there is no keyboard or mouse

I doubt, very much, that this was the sole reason and I agree, if it was, that this is not tenable.
But we have seen how much hue and cry is going up with broken add-ons and the like secondary

Brian though I think with NVDA the migration to python 3.9 etc was canceled or pushed forward because it would break NVDA's support with Windows 7. When features that would benefit newer

I remember the old Braille ‘N Speak where you could have the line feed turned off and just have the return in a document. I don’t know how common that was.

I’ll add that the reason I vfind your comments valuable is that until now, I’ve never seen a good or systematic reason why more and more verbosity is made available and is turned on by default.

Yep. I remember tracter feed paper too. I'm at version 3.9 in terms of my age. I think this is why I was taught that a line feed and a cR were different, or something. Sorry for making everyone's

That’s an interesting position, that not adding verbosity will creat blackout. It may have merit or some merit. But perhaps there is a better way. Perhaps for new users of NVDA, an announcement

But so are all old apps dropping old OS support. There is a point of time when maintaining an app's support isn't worth the time and efort, and it aalso encourages risky behavior. Microsoft
