Re: can you disable the announcement of "in figure" o"out of figure"?
I don't think a screen-reader should decide what to read and what to skip. what I object to is the announcement figure and out of figure with no way for the user to turn it off. I also don't think

Then, if that's the case, for the love of heaven, someone who's got it should open an issue on the NVDA GitHub with the steps to reproduce, not keep complaining about it here. This is not a venue

I have been thinking about figures. Often when coded correctly, a screen reader will speak fairly much the same information 3 to 4 times on a figure.

Re: NVDA Not Talking
That shouldn't be the initial setting. If it were, you would have to use another synthesizer to make it talk after installation. We would have seen no end of complaints from people who installed

Re: NVDA announcing Capital letters
Hi,
It happens equally on the SAPI version of Vocalizer, I can tell you that.
And it is not, as Brian suggests, an isolated problem, it is easy to reproduce.
All the best

Re: How setting heading rows and columns in Excel, and reading of those by NVDA, works . . .
John,
Please ignore my previous message and its final typo!
Here is what I really meant:
Your table looks fine.
Have you set these three parameters in Document configuration in the excel

Re: NVDA Not Talking
Huh? Mine came up talking, I did not need narrator to set it up once I ran the installer. I had one core for my synth upon installing nvda.

Re: NVDA Not Talking
Steven, you could also try fire up something like narrator to see what is showing up when you then activate NVDA menu, and, there, maybe check what synthesizer is selected - NVDA + ctrl + S

Re: NVDA Not Talking
When NVDA first starts you are able to use Narrator to set up things. I found this out just days ago. The real problem once NVDA is installed is getting into the synthesizer settings and choose one

Re: NVDA Not Talking
That is strange. Do you have NVDA run as your primairy screen reader? You might want to check NVDA’S settings. You must have run a muck when you installed it.

Also, you might have speech mode set to beeps somehow, that's what the high-pitched noise makes me think of. Hit NVDA-s, and speech mode will toggle between talk, beeps, and off.

Hi, Steven. Just because there's speech at logon does not mean there
will be speech once the computer has started. Both options need to be
checked in 'Preferences > Settings > General'.

Re: NVDA announcing teams alerts
Is then sounds like an electron issue. Is there a work around for that? Teams is built off of the electron platform which is why I ask.

This sounds like the same kind of problem that exists in Chrome browsers. It doesn't matter what window you are in, if you are downloading a file, download progress messages are announced. There

Re: ZOOM PRO: CAN'T SHARE SCREEN
Good, glad you found it, also you learned a new key stroke, I think it speaks that one, if not you can look under zoom’s prefs to see if my fingers didn’t get tongue tied.

Re: ZOOM PRO: CAN'T SHARE SCREEN
I have a paid account and I can share screens. Not sure if it is a pro account, it’s the one with up to 100 people limit. Try the alt s key to bring up the dialogue.
Good luck.

Re: ZOOM PRO: CAN'T SHARE SCREEN
Can you try alt s to share, then go through the dialogue that should in theory come up? It’s been a while since I’ve done this, I use discord for most of that now. Sorry.
