I have no idea whether Live Preview could play into this or not, but even if not, it's still worth reading through the recent topic: NVDA glitches when reporting cells and their data in Microsoft

I solved the problem by reinstalling the sound splitter addon changing to not split the sound then removed the addon which got things back to normal.
Disabling the addon does not resolve the issue as

Oops, should have looked into this...
One possible workaround is restarting the computer. Another workaround is pressing Alt+NVDA+S to disable sound splitter feature before removing or disabling

The main things I can think of are:
- are you SURE you are pressing the right keys? EG if using the numpad insert, is numlock off?
- Are you in edit mode? EG when you start typing in a cell or press

Then the ability to open PDFs by Word did come in at Word 2013. The edition didn't matter, once it was there, it was there for all editions within a given overall release, 2013 in this case.

Although this is not likely the central issue, you're on Windows 10 Version 20H2, which is now two full feature updates behind. It would make sense to get up-to-date there.

I had office 2013 on a previous pc and it would open pdf files

PDF files can be opened directly in most Chromium-based web browsers, and I think even Firefox does this now. Once they're open in your browser use your usual commands to get around in
