And another voice saying that converting the PPTX to a more "easy reading format" is the way to go.
Powerpoint itself is really meant for giving a presentation and being able to control everything

You can convert powerpoint docs to .rtf's. It makes them sooooo much easier to read.
1. Alt+f, and arrow to export.
2. tab once to "create pdf/xps document".

So set your symbol level to Some and it shouldn't speak.
If you've changed something in the symbol pronunciation dialog, you might have to reset that. Either figure out what you changed and undo

There are instructions in the GitHub forms themselves. It would make zero sense to include this in an NVDA user guide. You don't initiate anything related to filing a Feature Request or Bug
