When installations require restarts shouldn't they at least recommend it? :-)
Sometimes, when it's convenient, I will do that but it's not always required and some applications will install and end

I tried Small Basic quite a few years ago now with one of my students but it was completely inaccessible then so we covered the same concepts but using Python instead.

you want the checkbox unchecked. It says automatically check for updates. You don't want it to.
