1. Press enter on a message.
2. From here, go to the View menu, Message Body As.
Either Simple HTML or Plain Text will stop that message.

I seem to recall, a number of months ago, this problem discussed here or on another list I follow. The only solution, in my recollection, was to use an earlier version of Thunderbird and not allow it

I get that too, and have done so since opening thunderbird for the first time. It's configurable in the security settings, but I haven't bothered to change it yet as it hasn't irritated me enough

Yes, even good old Outlook Express will block attempts for an emails html from getting remote content. I'd be a bit wary of whoever is sending mail with remote content in the first place.

Hi
Have a look under the tools then options then privacy settings in
thunderbird.
You will be looking for a setting called Allow remote content in messages
mined is checked so it allows it.

Re: Outlook 2016 and Unread Messages
I suspect you can't do anything about this. There is an icon that NVDA isn't announcing, I suspect because it isn't programmed to do so. But why is that a problem? If unread messages are announced

That’s taken care of. My wife can see that the unread messages are marked both with a blue font and a closed envelope.
