Re: NVDA and Kurzweil 1000
Also, for a long time, Omnipage had a bug that caused text to be misplaced when recognizing documents that had columns. I don't know if this has been finally corrected.

With Kurzweil, you can use save as to save the document in any format Kurzweil supports, including a text file. It is just as though you were saving any other recognized material, such as a book.

Re: NVDA in Employment
However, if the general perception among those who administer such software is that NVDA may be more dangerous, that still means that the perception makes it as much a problem as if it were reality.

Yes Kurzweil works with NVDA though for best results you need to mute speech in one of the applications as they will otherwise talk together.
I normally just use NVDA plus s to toggle speech off

Re: NVDA and Kurzweil 1000
Have you checked the NVDA Addons to see if there is something for Kurzweil?
I don't have Kurzweil so have never checked.

Re: how to change bang to exclamation and tick to apostrophe
Now that was extremely helpful.
After replacing both incidents of each, it works perfectly!

Re: how to change bang to exclamation and tick to apostrophe
Hi
The instructions given are correct. Note there are 2 entries each for bang and tick, you will have to enter a new replacement for all entries.
Cheers

Re: how to change bang to exclamation and tick to apostrophe
I added dictionary entries so that they get spoken how I wish. It has worked for me, though I've only done it for the left and right versions, “” and ‘ which I get NVDA to say "left/right quote"

As for scanning PDF I use ScanSoft Omnipage myself. Instead of running just OCR it converts the PDF file into a nice TXT file you can then browse. But of course, the tool in question is not cheap,

Does NVDA work with Kurzweil 1000? When I try to do OCR on a PDF, the arrow keys and other navigation keys seem to do nothing.

My real question is whether NVDA leads to noticeably less productivity in

We are getting off topic, but most IT departments don’t have the resources to look through NVDA/Open source software and determine if it’s secure enough. Then again, JAWS also has its problems

Part of the reason secured environments don’t allow NVDA is partly because it is written in Python, an interpreted programming language much like Java or JavaScript. Python is not type safe. This

NVDA in Employment
Hi, everyone,
I hope this isn't too off-topic. I recently heard an argument that NVDA is bad for blind prospect's in employment because it is the "dumbed down" solution. The person arguing this
