As an aside, I have little experience with recent netbooks, but there are things like the HP Stream series of light laptops still floating

Like I said, I probably missed it earlier :) I don't tend to use add-ons too often since I'm always wanting to have a "plain" NVDA setup to test things with.

Oh agreed there. I use latex to, not on windows but for now if the lag is too much try espeak or what ever you have or even a different 1core voice.
