Yes, but having to tab just to get to the sign in button is inefficient.

For about a year now, Gmail has logged in to standard view by default, but you can still access the basic HTML view. You have to force focus mode, then hit shift tab to the top of the page and the

What I'm saying is that the latest "trick" is that you do have to log in to standard view, but you can switch back to Basic HTML view by activating that link after having done so.
