If you grab the latest version of NVDA which is 2018.2 rc2 make sure you
install it to your computer first.

Then, there is sub-vocalization. It's something being worked on.
However, I agree that a keyboard interface isn't going anywhere soon.

Interestingly, I noticed back in the day when I did my dictation on a mini cassette recorder for the secretary to type up, I found that I was more creative and thorough in my dictation if I paced
