I've had that happen with the alt keys sometimes, too. I just have to try to remember to try both left and right.

Yes, I do have the microsoft sound mapper and the realtek sound card. Seems like most new computers come with the realtek. I'm going to try to control my ham radio transceiver through a USB port;

keyboards can be funny things. On my downstairs computer (an ASUS) the USB keyboard doesn't have a windows key on the right side. I like the keyboard if it weren't for that. I tend to use both

You probably have more than one setting even if you have nothing else connected. I have Microsoft Sound mapper as the item I am on in the combo box, thus the default. I can down arrow to the actual
