The default choice in that combo box is user default. this suggests that the computer itself is set to the wrong language. This should be checked because if it isn't, it will cause problems. I

To set nvda to English, Open general settings in nvda nvda+ctrl+G
You will then be in a combo box for language
So if you press the letter E then English will be selected in the combo box
Then hit

Perhaps I should have said turning off speech is a two stroke command. Pressing NVDA key and then s might be considered two strokes and turning speech on without the add on might be a three stroke

This is really tiresom. Time was you could have an imap and a pop3 account on the same address and hide all the imap folders other than inbox and spam, them move the message and it got delivered to

How fast are you typing? If you either type quickly or turn off speech, you won't hear anything. You likely know this but do you know that anytime you want to interrupt speech, you can just keep

I am quite new to NVDA and I speak English and do not understand Chinese writing at all. For some reason my NVDA has only Chinese writing. Does anyone have a solution?

This can be turned off in the Chrome preferences, under Advanced Settings. If I recall correctly, the option is called "use a prediction service to help complete searches" or something semantically
