NVDA and HP laptop
HP computers have a HP application called HP support assistant. Back when I was a Window Eyes user if you tried to run this application WE would crash. Does NVDA work well with the HP support

And if you set the caps lock to be an NVDA key, no other changes will be made to which keys are NVDA keys. You can make that change and you will then have both inserts and caps lock set as modifiers.
