Re: SpeaKey: small addon for people who are learning the use of the keyboard or with hand problems
It is more efficient to use control shift escape to open the task manager. But there is no advantage in using control escape to open the start menu.

Lol. Yeah, control esc has been around since I started to learn windows in 1999 or so. I’ve always known it as control esc, I do use windows now, however still use control esc every once in a while,

Control escape works here when I'm using NVDA. I don't know why it doesn't work where you've tested it. Have you issued the bypass command before seeing if the command works or not? I don't see

Exactly. In the 90s control-esc was used to open the start menu, because keyboards with the start key did not exist or were just starting to be produced.
Now the start button is essential.

Thanks for the instructions, since I am not that familar with doing this kind of thing, I decided that I should give up manually editing the registry.

I think this question is pretty much meaningless. I doubt much of anyone uses control escape anymore. That command, I strongly suspect, was intended for a time when a lot of keyboards didn't

What is the graph key? I'm not all that familiar with that, if you mean insert plus tab, that is already taken in laptop mode.

Hi,
I strongly advise contacting the add-on developer and see what can be done about this issue from the add-on side.
Cheers,
Joseph

Brian,
Thank you for your suggestion but downgrading was not what I actually wanted.
There's another solution for me. I disabled my lock screen as mentioned it in last in process blog. Now

What happens with the previous version of nvda if you downdate it again. Does it then work again. I think it possible that somehow the plugging of a security hole might have affected it in some
