I have never heard such beeps. Perhaps it's the add on, doing something that isn't wanted. It isn't, as far as my experience is concerned, Firefox itself and I doubt it's NVdA itself, though

Sorry, just reinstalled latest version of firefox, to give it another go, and can't remember what the name was for the extension that offers a form of progress bar beeps for page

Only problem is the Qube hasn't been supported for a long time now. I've removed it here but keep using TW Blue.

Nope but you can use an number of 3rd party clients I.E. TW Blue, Chicken Nugget and others I've missed.

Set Facebook aside. Test the language lists in Google Translate by Chrome, and compare their pronounciation with the one tested by Mozilla Firefox. I hope that you will face the difference
