Then, Press NVDA+n, followed by t, to get to the NVDA tools menu. Next, choose the option for "Run COM Registration Fixing Tool", and follow the prompts. We have just finished rebuilding the internals of that tool to fix more problems, and to work much better on 64-bit Windows. After you run that tool, quit NVDA, and start your existing installed copy of 2020.4 again, and see if your problem is resolved. A note to anyone else reading this: this is specific advice, to this user only, not a general suggestion. There's no reason for anyone else to try this unless you are having this exact problem Luke |

Then, my next suggestion, since it's reasonably easy, is doing an uninstall and reinstall of NVDA 2020.4.
If that doesn't fix things (and definitely try the steps noted before for the new install, just for good measure), then I start looking at the Windows and/or Chrome side of the equation. Heaven knows that NVDA and Chrome can and do play very well together when everything is "as it should be." -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 I do not understand why some seek to separate a person from their actions. Until Windows 11 is released it's not "in support" nor can we know whether what we have to work with this week is what we'll have next week as far as the Windows side of things goes. It's really a grand experiment for the time being. Once Windows 11 goes live, then it's appropriate to have discussions regarding NVDA running in Windows 11 on the main group. And it will become critical that all members start to identify whether it's Windows 10 versus Windows 11 that they're running NVDA under, as there will be a long period of "mixed use" ahead of us. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 I do not understand why some seek to separate a person from their actions. NVDA not working with Chrome
huser3476@...
Hi everyone,
I am using NVDA 2020.4 with windows 19041.1052 with the latest version of Google Chrome.
From few days, I have noticed a bug in NVDA that, NVDA is completely inaccessible with Chrome. There is no spoken feedback while using Chrome.
Also, in places like D drive or desktop and apps like Notepad, NVDA doesn't respond to alt+ space or application key. Basically, NVDA doesn't speak while navigating through options that appear. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
Regards,
Saurav Hegde

Thanks very, very much for this add-on.
I do this as a matter of course with the links to any of the stuff I have hosted on Google Drive so that those who click through/activate will not have to go through any nonsense beyond picking where they want to save the file being downloaded. It is not a trivial issue to parse out the File Identifier and reconstruct that link by hand. That this add-on works with all of the major cloud file sharing services and deals with tel: links is just incredibly handy. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 I do not understand why some seek to separate a person from their actions. Re: Websites that determine where NVDA starts at
Gene
the question was how to follow a link, return to the same page, and be
where you left off and that is what I answered. However, farther in the
thread, it was said that this may be a European mandated cookie message that was
moving focus. I don’t know if my suggestion would work if that is the
case. it wasn’t discussed further and how to deal with the cookie message
was. I haven’t tried shift enter on links that open material on the same
page.

You should be able to solve the problem by causing the page you want to work with to open in a new window. For example, when you are using search, write the search item and instead of pressing enter, press shift enter. That opens the results page in a new window. When you have finished working with it, close the new window with alt f4. You are now back on the page where you were and you should be in exactly the same place you were because the page has been opened all the time in another window and you did nothing to change your position.
I can’t test that here because I don’t see the banner, looking at the page from the United states, but whatever the cause, this method should work around the problem.

Does Windows 11 have fast boot on by default? If so, as in Windows 10, you won’t hear the Windows sound unless you restart Windows, not shut down then boot. If you restart with fast boot on, that completely reboots Windows. If fast boot is on and you shut down, you aren’t doing a full boot of Windows. Some of Windows remains ready to run which makes boot faster.

Has the windows start music been removed in windows 11? My friend is in the windows insider program and he has the developer version and the windows start sound is checked but when the pc starts there is no start up music. If this true than if nvda for some reason does not read the log in screen then we won't know if our pcs are on the desk top or not. He does like windows 11 but he did not like windows 10 11 is faster on start up and everything else the edge loadsmuch faster. Brian Sackrider On 6/28/2021 7:23 PM, Joseph Lee wrote:
