Hi.
I've just installed kindle 1.29.58 last version for Pc, it seems that the support indicated in the NVDA user guide is no longer valid ... Do you know the latest supported version of Kindle? Thanks, -- Chris.

New Book Available on Browsing the Web with Screen Reader Programs
David Kingsbury
Hi all,
Below is the description of a book I just wrote. It can be purchased for $20 at: https://carroll.org/product/when-one-web-browser-is-not-enough/
When One Web Browser Is Not Enough: A Guide for Windows Screen Reader UsersIn just the last few years, more web browsers have become accessible, and screen reader users can greatly benefit by becoming familiar with multiple browsers. Websites are complex animals. When things go wrong with one browser, your first line of defense is often to switch browsers. Each browser has strengths and weaknesses, so you can pick and choose features among them to get the best browsing experience. And once you are comfortable with one browser, it’s not hard to pick up the basics of the others.
When One Web Browser Is Not Enough: A Guide for Windows Screen Reader Users by David Kingsbury, Assistive Technology Instructor at the Carroll Center for the Blind, is meant to help JAWS, NVDA, and Windows Narrator users to effectively use the four leading web browsers – Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge – in ways that build on the strengths of each of them. Topics covered include: recent trends in web browser and screen reader usage; web accessibility criteria; screen reader keystrokes and strategies for efficiently accessing and navigating websites; browser menu structure; useful web browser features and commands; and JAWS, NVDA and Narrator customizations. Two appendices – a list of keystrokes and a glossary of Internet terms – are included for convenient reference.

Re: NVDA 2020.2 and Word Track Changes
Sylvie Duchateau
Hello Sandra and all, I use Office 365 in French with NVDA 2020.2. I tested what you describe on a word document with track changes enabled. I noticed the same as you mentioned: While typing a to jump to the next change, everything is ok. However, going backwards with shift+a jumps to the first change and does not go to all others. I tested the same document with nvda 2019.2 and 2019.3, and the shortcut works properly. I can’t explain what the problem is. Best Sylvie De : nvda@nvda.groups.io <nvda@nvda.groups.io> De la part de Sandra Pilz via groups.io
Hi,
I am using the current version of NVDA, 2020.2. When I am in a word document with track changes enabled, I can go to reading mode and press a to go to the next change and again to the next change and so on. However, I can't move to the previous change. When I press shift+a, NVDA will tell me no changes were found, although it took me through them when I went forward using just a.
I am using Office 365. Also, I'm using a German version of NVDA, so I don't know if the key to cycle through changes is different in the English version. However, A is the correct key in my version.
Can I do something to solve this, or is this a new bug?
Regards
Sandra

Re: reading an article.
And for anyone who might find themselves in the situation where they are having to use the keyboard layout to which they are not accustomed, and you need to find the NVDA shortcut for anything, NVDA+N,H,Q, will bring up the Commands Quick Reference in your default web browser so you can look it up.
I can't say how many times I've used this to look up something I very seldom use, or when faced with laptop keyboard layout since I'm a desktop layout user by default. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 . . . the presumption of innocence, while essential in the legal realm, does not mean the elimination of common sense outside it. NVDA and language support
Chelsea <Lady.arwen15@...>
Hello,
I apologize if this is a re-post. I received a job fair email that highlighted several languages. They are: Balochi, Chinese/Mandarin, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Pashto, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Swahili, Tajik, Turkish, Urdu, Uzbek When looking through NVDA's speech and Braille settings, I see that some of these languages have speech support only, and some only have Braille support. Some have both. Are there plans to expand language support even further in the future? Thank you from a curious user, Chelsea

Sorry, I haven't followed this entire thread but there is a
way to start from a given point and read to the end using a
laptop keyboard layout. Just focus on where you want to start
and then do a NVDA+A.
I hope this is what you needed.

Hi CJ
You may have your keyboard set to Laptop mode. Insert + Down Arrow only reads to the end in Desktop mode.
Press NVDA + Control + K to load the keyboard settings and ensure it’s set to “Desktop” if this is the problem.
All the best.

The only way I know of to stop this problemis that, when you open a new message, don't just let it sit there and read. After you open the message, issue the read to end command.

reading an article.
CJ
Hello, I have updated my machine to the latest NVDA version and have
found that if I go onto say The Guardian site and start to read an
article I seem to be able to read only one paragraph from the
article before insert and down arrow stop and I have to either
down arrow or use insert and down arrow to get to the next
paragraph of the article. Prior to updating things worked just
fine so has something changed with the latest update or is it a
case of a setting having altered and if so how do I get to read an
entire article without it stopping at each new paragraph.
Thanks in advance for any assistance and it is quite likely I
have missed something simple. Any suggestions will be most
welcomed.
My regards, CJ.
