thanks.

You'll need to create it in GMail first, Ame.

Re: Extracting Text From Image in Word

On Fri, May 31, 2019 at 02:13 AM, Luke Davis wrote:
Why print and scan back in? You could just print the resulting document to the Microsoft Print To PDF Printer, and then run OCR on the resulting file.
Agreed, which, with the difference in detail being the need to even convert to PDF, I said with, "just copying the image, creating a separate word file including an annotation regarding source, pasting it in and using the screen reader OCR on that second document which would just contain pages of the images to make it easy for the OCR software to get only what it needs."

The only reason I make the recommendation about annotations is it makes it much easier, when reading through the original document and needing to consult OCRed content for an embedded image, to know exactly which image (or images, if each is annotated) is contained on a given page in the "images only to be OCRed" word file.  I also tend to name the file such that I know where the source was, e.g., Figs_5_thru_9_from_ThisDocument.docx

Some people prefer to print and scan, though to me it's more complicated in a situation where you have embedded images where it's just the image that has text you want OCRed, unless that image takes up a full page.

Windows 10 App Essentials 19.06.1 #addonrelease

Hi all,

Windows 10 App Essentials 19.06.1 is on its way. This one brings localization updates, adds logging for UIA text change event, expands information spoken in Settings app, and other small things.

Important: for people subscribed to development channel for this add-on, there will be a corresponding snapshot for you with two major differences from 19.06.1:

  1. NVDA 2019.1 will be set as minimum version for a select few snapshots. In other words, not every snapshot will install on NVDA 2018.4. Support for NvDA 2018.4 will be removed a few days after NVDA 2019.2 is released.
  2. For people on Version 1903 (May 2019 Update), the ability to let NVDA announce volume and brightness changes will be restricted to File Explorer being focused in order to make the experience similar to recent NVDA development snapshots. This change won’t show up for stable users for a while.

One more thing: a development snapshot in June will require Version 1809 (October 2018 Update) in order to test compatibility. Version 1803 (April 2018 Update) will be dropped from this add-on later in 2019 (tentatively by end of July but subject to change) as for maintenance policy for this add-on.

Cheers,

Joseph

That's precisely what I'm trying to do :) but NVDA doesn't tell me what I'm selecting, that is, until a certain point where it reports the selection but
then I've selected way more than I wanted to.
And no, there's no way of selecting exactly what I'm wanting. That's a "take it or leave it" situation.
I understand that you can't hear selected text, but that is a separate problem. If you want to delete a line or group of lines, you really aught to be able to do the following:

1. Control-home (to get to the top)
2. Down arrow to the first line you want to delete.
3. Hold shift and press end (which should select only the current line).
4. Press the delete key (which will delete the selected text).
5. Press the delete key again (which will delete the remaining blank line).
6. Repeat steps 2-5, for each line you want to get rid of.

Well,  NVDA reports it as a table.
It is probably what NVDA calls a "layout table". To test, the next time you are in one of these, do this:

Press NVDA+ctrl+b (Opens NVDA browse mode settings).
Tab four times (You should be on "include layout tables").
Press space (Should uncheck "include layout tables").
Press enter.

See if the thing you are in is still called a table.
If not: it was a layout table, and has no effect in relation to editing at all--it isn't actually a table, just a display structure. Stop thinking of it as a table in that case.

If it is still called a table, then my solution for deleting lines described above, probably won't work as-is.

Do you have a flatbed scanner or multi-function machine that came with OCR software (and most have in recent years)? If so, and you are able to select those

which belongs where (which could include a single additional annotation) that could work.
Why print and scan back in? You could just print the resulting document to the Microsoft Print To PDF Printer, and then run OCR on the resulting file.

Remember as well, they are *.mid files also this thing was written for xp. I would not at all be surprised if it broke under windows 10. You will want to try and find another midi editor as qws will probably soon be on its way out.

ah, I didn't explain right.

The program is called QWS.

its a program for making little midi music things.

The program was made for windows xp, and just heard others who use QWS, have had this problem.

This only happens when using QWS.

it even does it when using narrator to test.
