Re: Drag and drop with NVDA and Thunderbird

Hi Guy,
Rather than try to use object navigation in a rather convoluted process, download and install the Mozilla Apps Enhancement add on from the NVDA add ons page. The latest version will work with all versions of Thunderbird including version 78. Here is the direct link to this add on page. https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/mozillaScripts.en.html On 8/16/2020 11:01 AM, Guy Schlosser

Here is another link with other instructions. I don't know which may or may not work properly or be better or easier to work with.

I'm playing with Thunderbird now to see if I can figure it out. I found instructions with a search and I don't know if they match what you found in the tutorial. Here is the link:

https://nvda.groups.io/g/nvda/topic/colum_headers_in_thunderbird/3281531?p= Also, a link is given in the message to an audio tutorial. Perhaps that is the one you are using. It may be that the add-on won't work in your version of Thunderbird. Others can comment on whether an updated version is available if you are using a version too new for the old version of the add-on to be compatible with. What I’m trying to do is re-order the columns in Mozilla Thunderbird. For example, I am trying to move the status column clear to the left, followed by from, subject, etc. I did see a Mussula add-on, but it didn’t look like it worked with this version of Thunderbird. As a matter of fact, it didn’t even show up in my add-ons list when I did a search. On Aug 16, 2020, at 11:12 AM, Gene <gsasner@...> wrote: |

I'm not sure just what you are trying to do. I've seldom looked at that part of the Thunderbird interface. Nvda key 4 doesn't move you to the top of anything. It moves you to the left by object. NVEDA key 6b moves you to the right by object. NVDA key 2 8 moves you up by object, NVDA key 2 moves you down.

To move within an object, if you can, you use just the numpad keys themselves. There is, however an add-on, I don't know if it is an NVDA or a Mozilla add-on, but I think its an NVDA add-on, that removes all this nonsense, otherwise reqquired. It allows you to reorder columns easily. I say nonsense because if Mozilla would make this operation accessible, none of this would be necessary. This problem has existed for years. But where are they in making this operation accessible? Gene -----Original Message-----

Subject: Drag and drop with NVDA and Thunderbird Hi all. I am trying to re-order my columns in Mozilla Thunderbird, and having some trouble. I listen to the tutorial that I found on groups.io, and I was unable to get my NVDA cursor to go up to the header where the columns are listed. Is there something different that I have to do? When I have NVDA in object navigation mode I use the NVDA key plus number four and I cannot seem to get the NVDA cursor the top of the message list. Any help would be welcome. Is this an update thing? I think I am running NVDA 2020.1 on this particular flash drive. Thanks, Guy |

Dear all,
Afik, I have here the same problem. It happens on my three laptops. I’m sure that Microsoft will repair it.

Hi, evening from Israel.
This email has been written after a long call with Microsoft disability answer desk about the narator's Braille driver and the problems with other screen readers its can cause.
First of all, there is no selution. He suggest me to do a repair for my machine, no matter that I've explained to him 20 times that's is not my problem, its global problem around the world that’s effect many blind people who use Braille. I even showed him this in Jaws and NVDA, and also that the change braille display driver is not always there, but it’s the same screen as always. Even removing the driver its not an option, its said "accessibility braille support uninstallation failed most of the time. And if its removes nothing happened with the braille.
After 30 minutes of explomations and "hmmmmm" from him, which just get me more angry, he said "ok, submit a feedback to us. But he doesn't know the email address of the department.
What do you think? How can we solve this really frasreting

VLC addon for the latest version

Hi all,
Does anyone happen to know if there is an add on for VLC that works with the latest vda? Or, if there is an alternative that I should use that would be better. Brandon |

Re: narator's driver, problems with screen readers and braille.
Afik,
It is considered bad netiquette to cross-post between groups, and you sent your last response to: braille-display-users@groups.io; jfw-users@groups.io; program-l@...; nvda@nvda.groups.io Please do not cross post replies received to replies on other groups here. And I feel fairly certain that the members of the Braille Display Users, JFW Users, and Program-L lists would appreciate not having cross posted material as well. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 A gentleman is one who never hurts anyone's feelings unintentionally. ~ Oscar Wilde

Re: Looking for accessible PDF editors

It is not strictly speaking native PDF editing but of course the subscription/later versions of Microsoft Word are perfectly able to open PDF documents for both reading / editing providing the original PDF is in an accessible format and not a scanned image.

Given the Office standard is widely acknowledged I suspect this would be acceptable to most application providers. For your purposes you would probably need to re-export the completed application document in word back into PDF format otherwise it will try to save in an Office format. David Griffith

Looking for accessible PDF editors
Mária Orovčíková
Hello list,
please, are there any PDF Editors available that are accessible with the latest NVDA and Windows 10? I need to fill in an application form which is in PDF format only, so I am looking for either an accesible PDF editor or a way how to convert the file into accessible format to fill in, but the formating as in original document *must* be preserved. It is the application form for the city council where I live, that's why formatting is so infortant. I do not have sighted person around all the time, and I would like to do it on my own if possible. Thank you very much in advance. Maria |
