Hmmm well do you have the latest drivers and software installed.

Could be an incompatability issue I guess. Is the sets firmware updated. Have you rebooted the set lately. And are its battery cells charged could be either.

Maybe try running the COM Registration Fixing Tool? Press NVDA+n, then t, then "Run COM Registration Fixing Tool". Regards Quentin.

Re: audio ducking

I think everyone else has you covered there, but just two points: 1) Here's the user guide section on the Synthesizer dialog which includes audio ducking: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#SelectSynthesizer 2) Audio ducking only works when NVDA is installed, and only on Windows 8 and Windows 10. All the best Quentin.

Hi Justin, I haven't got a Focus 40 myself, but it should certainly work with NVDA. Here is the section from our user guide on the Focus and other Freedom Scientific displays: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#FreedomScientificFocus If you want to reassign any of the default key assignments, you can do that in NVDA with NVDA's Input Gestures dialog: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#InputGestures Kind regards Quentin.

My brother scanner has the last version of paperport 14.2 and its not accessable really I mean it was at one stage but who knows. In 2016 I got an offer on aother computer from some speech recognition software for omnipage but didn't need it at the time. if I'd known I would have got that one then. Yeah k1000 aint available and the last version was 2015 which was a shame. It handled pdf, braille transcription and the like. Still who knows. Re: end of the line for finereader
"Marvin Atkins"
Hi David,
I’m using Kurzweil 13.4 on my Windows 10 system. I had to go to the
Kurzweil site and download a patch to update version 13 to 13.4, also there was
a set of instructions I had to follow when installing the patch. I called
Kurzweil support to ensure I was doing everything correctly. I was told that
13.4 may not work after a major update but I’m currently up to the latest 1909,
waiting for 2004, and Kurzweil is still working.

Did you try the demo? I don't know what the situation is now, but years ago, the program wasn't as accurate as Fine Reader. If you haven't, it is important to use the demo before making a decision.

Buying the program does take me to a webpage with an error, doodling with that a bit more got me to a page where I could enter my transaction id and which I did. However the paypal recipt seems to point me at something called apollo communication which seems to not exist domain wize so have emailed the company support for textcloner. Lets hope its all interconnected as there was other stuff there I may be interested in later. If not I will have to ask paypal for a refund due to the nonexistant domain. It seems like I can still download abbyy fine reader 14 so temperarily I will probably downgrade to that. The abbyy fine reader 15 aint actually that bad as such, but as long as I do not ever need the menu bar or the main window of the main app it works. I do not process a large amount of paper documents though and with things like codex and a wordprocesser like jarte I will be fine. Of course jarte doesn't have the ability to convert or reade older word documents and only certain formats. So I may in the end need to get something like libre office to handle all this stuff.
