Yes, is the option for the sounds of focus and browse mode. But the beeps in the progress bar is a beep that NVDA play with a script, don’t is a sound file.

You need to edit the sounds themselves.

Go to

c:\program files (x86)\nvda\waves

There you'll find the sounds.

I usually edit them with audacity.

After you replace the sounds with the new ones, you restart the screen

reader.

I'm not sure how that is relevant. What they own does not effect how they handle your data.
And given that they provide VPN services, it is not really surprising that they do.
And if you meant "US investors", then I don't think that matters either, unless their controlling interest is U.S. based, which it isn't.

Also, protonmail has full control of private keys generated when you make your account.
That is a distinction without difference.

It is true that they hold the keys, but the keys are encrypted locally using your password before they are ever sent to Proton. Provided you use a password of longer than about 12 characters, and at least with some non-dictionary words, current brute forcing technology (GPUs, and I believe FPGAs) can not crack it (thus decrypting your private key) before the heat death of the universe. That will change with quantum computing, but so will everything else in encryption.

They also have plans to let you generate and upload your own keys eventually.
https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/how-is-the-private-key-stored/

So if you want to be picky, your info could be compromised because you only have control of your public keys.
Wrong. See above. They never see your unencrypted private key.

At any rate with the bridge for payed users not usable, I will stay with gmail thank you.
It is usable. You just have to work at it a bit.
Furthermore, if you are content to use their website for mail, you don't need the bridge. If you are using gmail.com for email, there is no difference in effect--it's webmail, one way or the other.

Pluss, I will be shortly be doing a podcast on the gnupg wich is a pgp varient which is all protonmail is.
True enough. The thing which makes Protonmail and Fastmail (though I don't recommend them because they are U.S. based and subject to record pilfering by agencies who like to do that) viable, is that PHP (gnupg, etc.) is hard to use, and all parties have to be technically proficient enough to use it.
I have met many highly skilled technical individuals who find dealing with PGP to be a major pain in the back side (I'm one of them), and for whom ProtonMail's simplicity and efficiency is a godsend.

Additionally, with the proliferation of mobile platforms, PGP has gotten even harder to integrate into a comprehensive mail solution. Again, Proton simplifies all that.

Re: Interacting with mouse over links using NVDA?

CARLOS-ESTEBAN <carlosestebanpianista@...>

Hello.

Yes, the interaction with NVDA is depending of the web page. In some cases is a normal element but no is possible enable temp with the Keyboard, in other cases the controls don’t are standard and the NVDA commands for move the mouse to the same place of the navigator object and after the command for use the mouse click (or the physicals buttons primary or secondary in the mouse) can work with NVDA and NVDA can read the options from a menu, for example, but in this point some websites are different.

In this case, we can use NVDA Remote for test the accessibility of the website after of the login.

If you or anyone has written to the company, and given them links to screen reader resources what has been their response if any?

Re: Interacting with mouse over links using NVDA?

Also, I doubt that having something appear on a web page or change is classified as a focus change. it is a change on the page, and unless there is something like JAVA script on the page to force you to that place, as Google forces you into the edit field when you open the home page to do a search, I don't think the screen-reader will react. Look at live regions on web pages. If there changing information were defined by the screen-reader as a new focus point, you would be constantly losing your place when trying to work with the page.

I doubt this can be generalized. What if the menu or whatever structure or additional information occurs on a very different part of the page. Your screen-reader won't read the information automatically and you have no idea where to look. often, when I played with the JAWS mouseover feature, I would hear information such as screen changed at line 11. I hope on the web page you are working with, moving the mouse to the link is useful.

Subject: [nvda] Interacting with mouse over links using NVDA?

Hey guys,
so subject line says all this.
How do we interact with mouse over links/controls using NVDA?
In JAWS, we use to press "insert+control+enter" which doesn't work in case
of NVDA.
any help/pointers please?

It works quite well! Once you move the mouse to the element, you can
navigate through the sub menu with arrows.

It may cause the action to take place but you won't know what or where
it is.  NVDA doesn't support mouseover.  My impression is that it is so
rarely necessary in using sites that it isn't supported except in JAWS.

When you issue the mouseover command in JAWS, JAWS tells you where a
change occurred on what line.  You then use the go to line command to
see what the change is.  You then use another command to return to your
previous position.  NVDA has none of these functions.  While I would
think that moving the mouse to the link might carry out the action, as I
said, you won't know anything about it.

Hey Akash

1. Move your focus to the position of the element that has the mouse
over
actions.
2. Move the mouse pointer to that position with NVDA + / on the number
pad
(desktop mode) or NVDA + Shift + M (laptop mode).

This should display mouse over actions. Note that I am assuming that
the
navigator object is set to follow focus changes, which is the default
behaviour. You can clarify this if necessary in the Review Cursor
settings
or toggle this behaviour on or off with NVDA + 7.

All the best.

Ben
