Windows 10 App Essentials 20.04.1 hotfix

Hi all,
Windows 10 App Essentials 20.04.1 hotfix is now available. This version resolves an issue reported by people using Word 365 where NVDA may announce odd things when you toggle font attributes (bold, font size, etc.), especially more so for non-English speakers. In addition, added support for Microsoft Solitaire Collection (NVDA (finally) can announce card decks).
As a reminder from 20.04 release, Windows 10 App Essentials will end support for Windows 10 Version 1903 (May 2020 Update) in July 2020 (a lot earlier for people using development snapshots).

If you open the menus, up arrow to help, its much closer, and press enter,
you will be on about. Press enter and about will open.
Tab once and then use the screen review keys numpad 7 and numpad 9 to move
up and down in the screen. Nine moves you down and if you repeatedly move,
you will get to the version number. You will also hear whther Chrome is
up-to-date or if it is updating or if it has, you will see a restart
message.
I don’t know the laptop layout screen review keys, the ones I gave are for
the desktop layout.

Alt+F will also open the Chrome menu. Then press "E" to open the Help sub-menu, then press "G" to open the "About Google Chrome" sub-menu, and the version number will be on the page that loads.

I love Chrome it's the only thing I use. Very friendly with NVDA. I love how going into help checks for updates and starts the update. Be safe all!

go into the google chrome settings then help then about. That will show your current version and do the update.

Thunderbird talking way too much

I should have said in my previous message that I have disabled the mozilla enhancements addon, and the result is the same. There is way too much talking, and I keep seeing things about how t-bird thinks a message is junk, and when I hit enter on the "no" button to say it isn't junk, I lose focus and have to close and reopen the app. It has turned what use to be a pleasant efficient experience into a frustrating waste of time.

Hi all,
I just updated Thunderbird, and all of a sudden, it is talking way too much. For instance, each time I delete a message, I hear about how that message was deleted and added to trash, or some such. There are other announcements as well, rendering the experience entirely too verbose and inefficient for getting through email. I'm using the latest nvda, and as far as I know, there haven't been changes to the mozilla apps enhancements add on which I have been using without incident until now. My t-bird version is 68.7.0; it just updated to that. Mary |

Likeing content on facebook as a page.
Hi I manage a page on Facebook. and sometimes when I see content which is relevant to that page, I need to "like" the content as the page, and not as me. Facebook gives you an option to do this with a little Submenu, which drops down. I can get to the menu, get it to drop down, but that is it. NVDA does not find the menu options. I have tried for two days now just to get NVDA to access this menu. but I just can’t. Does anyone know how to get NVDA to access the menu? I have tried tabbing, Browse and Focus mode, using the elements list. Surely there is a way of accessing this menu. I have got a work around at the moment; however, this is not grate. Currently, the only way I can access the menu, is If I already know what it says. So, here Is what I do However I am open to better suggestions. 1 I find the little submenu button, on the post which I want to like. 2 I press enter on that. 3 I press NVDA key + CTRL + F 4 I then search for the word “PERSONAL” because I worked out that that word would always appear when the menu dropped down I found this by examining the page code. Once NVDA has been positioned on the word “PERSONAL” then I can navigate the menu. 5 I then select the page, which I want to like the content as. 6 I press enter and proceed to like the content in the normal way. Brian, Kerryn is referring to the "Download this tutorial as an MP3 audio file" link for each of the AFB training modules your referred to. Those links do not work, but the video in the YouTube frame does. Greg
