Libra Office Calc
Chris Mullins
Hi Is there anyone using Libra Office Calc that could explain how to format numeric columns such that a fixed number of decimal places is displayed without truncating trailing zeroes? For example I want to display 123.40 not 123.4.
I appreciate this message belongs on the chat list, so could some kind person please furnish me with the NVDA Chat list email address and details of how to subscribe?

I may be totally off target here because it's a long time since I used Jaws but is this referring to the Verbosity level in Jaws? When I used it, there used to be 3 levels of verbosity you could set based on your proficiency, the higher the level, the less information about the environment inwhich you are focused is fed back to the user. You could possibly create something like this using profiles and Document formatting settings in NVDA. Cheers Chris

Sleep mode doesn't technically turn speech off, as it still speaks while alt+tabbing through windows. So I guess if you want it completely silent you'd have to turn speech off and then sleep mode on. But then again I guess in those circumstances you may as well just unload NVDA... To be honest though, I've personally never really seen a need for sleep mode. In JAWS, which takes control of the whole keyboard (or at least used to), it would seem logical to put it to sleep for playing games that use an input system like DirectX or whatever that is sure to interfere. But NVDA doesn't have such a limitation - I don't think there's a single game where I've had to put NVDA to sleep and the two have cooperated very nicely indeed. The one thing I do is to turn keyboard echo off so I don't get distracted by NVDA chattering at me every time I press a key, but yet I've got it for other things in case of crashes, errors or other dialogs that might show up. Add that to the beauty of configuration profiles, and you're laughing. Cheers, Damien.

Hi, I know this feature, but speech on demand is different, after turning on this feature in jaws, it allows you to limit the amount of speech you hear as you navigate windows and documents or perform other actions

Hi Richard, As well as all the information previously mentioned, we have some official training material for NVDA you might be interested in. The main one to start with is the Basic Training for NVDA. Despite the name, it covers everything from starting NVDA through to advanced concepts like Object Navigation, the Review Cursor and Configuration Profiles. It is available in a range of formats, starting at just $30 Australian (not much over $20 USD depending on the exchange rate of the day): https://www.nvaccess.org/shop Kind regards Quentin. Well as you say, it's been around since 2006 and we don't see it disappearing any time soon. We have a fantastic team, a great community and NVDA is the most popular screen reader (according to the WebAIM survey:

Re: the edward voice
Quentin Christensen
Speech player is somewhat dusty on the back shelf, but eSpeak NG certainly still exists in NVDA. If you install NVDA from scratch on a Windows 10 computer, it will use OneCore by default. Press NVDA+control+v to open the voice settings. Tab to the "change' (synthesizer) button and press ENTER. Then, press HOME or the arrow keys to find eSpeak-NG and ENTER. Next, TAB to the variant and select Ed from the list. Is that the one your were after? I'm not sure whether NV Speech player will be updated. If there is anyone who is eager to update it and has the ability and interest to maintain it, let me know. (I'm not sure exactly what Mick wants to do with it yet, but if someone is interested, we can start the dialog). Regards Quentin. Quentin. Re: my configuration is almost complete with 2019.3

Is not Windows that install... It is NVDA that installs...
The Windows association tells Windows that is NVDA that handles NVDA-ADDON files... NVDA will install the add-on in the running copy...

What would such a speech on demand add-on do? Are you using any add-ons or anything else? I can't replicate the read only issue with Word myself. I'll keep thinking on what else it could be. Regards Quentin. On Sat, Feb 15, 2020 at 11:08 PM abdul muhamin <abdulmuhamin600@...> wrote:

FW: [nvda-addons] Add-on Updater will require NVDA 2019.3 starting March 10, 2020, a speicla change fro alpha snapshot users
Hi, For anyone using Add-on Updater (which should be majority of you by now), please read the below notice to the end.
From: nvda-addons@nvda-addons.groups.io <nvda-addons@nvda-addons.groups.io> On Behalf Of Joseph Lee via Groups.Io
Sent: Sunday, February 16, 2020 10:38 PM To: nvda-devel@groups.io Subject: [nvda-addons] Add-on Updater will require NVDA 2019.3 starting March 10, 2020, a speicla change fro alpha snapshot users
Hi all,
A few weeks ago I announced to the NVDA community that Add-on Updater will be the last add-on from me to require NVDA 2019.3. This decision was made in consideration for people who may need to use 2019.2.1 and earlier a little longer.
But the countdown has begun: after March 10, 2020 (the day Add-on Updater 20.03 is scheduled to be released, which happens to be 30 days after 2019.3 is released), Add-on Updater will require NVDA 2019.3. No exceptions, no extensions.
Also, a special change will be implemented in consideration for people using alpha snapshots: starting from Add-on Updater 20.03, those using alpha snapshots (master branch) will no longer receive incompatibility prompts if trying to update add-ons in most cases. The only time you’ll get an incompatibility notice when updating add-ons through Add-on Updater will be when NV Access updates minimum API version for all add-ons (currently set at 2019.3) and the add-on in question does not cover the updated API version in the compatibility range (minimumNVDAVersion <= newAPIVersion <= lastTestedNVDAVersion). This change is destined for alpha snapshot users only – those using betas, RC’s, and stable releases will continue to receive incompatibility notices if an add-on update isn’t compatible with latest NVDA version as seen internally (versionInfo.version_*).
Cheers, Joseph |

Hi Marco, You'll need to put your feedback in to Microsoft - the OneCore voices are built into Windows, NVDA just accesses them, it doesn't control how OneCore voices adjust pronunciation etc. You could talk to the Disabilitry Answer Desk at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/disability-answer-desk Kind regards Quentin.
